The photovoltaic (PV) inverter is the core device of a solar power system. Its main function is to convert the direct current (DC) generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC) for household and grid use. Without a normal operating inverter, solar energy cannot be utilized, even if the PV modules work properly. It also monitors system voltage, current and temperature to ensure safe power generation.
Inverters often face several common faults in daily operation. First, overheating failure frequently occurs due to long‑time high-load operation or blocked heat dissipation vents. Dust accumulation and high ambient temperature will worsen this situation and cause the inverter to shut down automatically. Second, grid connection failure happens when the grid voltage or frequency is unstable, or the external power line is loose. Third, aging internal components and moisture intrusion can lead to startup failure and abnormal alarm codes.
These problems can be solved with simple and effective methods. Users should regularly clean dust from the cooling fans and heat sinks to guarantee heat dissipation. It is necessary to check external wires and connectors to ensure tight and safe connection. If overheating alarms appear, stop the system temporarily and let the device cool down. In addition, avoid installing inverters in direct sunlight or humid areas. Timely maintenance and regular inspection can greatly reduce inverter faults and improve the overall power generation efficiency of PV systems.
