In order to improve the efficiency of MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology, the following factors need to be considered:
1、 Environmental factors
Light intensity: Different light intensities can significantly affect the output characteristics of solar panels. Under low light conditions, the output power of solar panels is low, and the MPPT algorithm needs to adjust the operating point more sensitively to track the maximum power point. Under high light intensity, it may be necessary to consider the heating issue of the solar panel, as an increase in temperature can lead to a decrease in panel efficiency, thereby affecting the performance of MPPT.
Temperature: Temperature changes have a significant impact on the output voltage and current of solar panels. Generally speaking, an increase in temperature will cause a decrease in the open circuit voltage of the battery panel and a slight increase in the short-circuit current. MPPT technology needs to be able to adapt to temperature changes in real time and adjust the operating point to maintain maximum power. For example, in hot summer, the temperature of solar panels may increase significantly, and the MPPT algorithm should be adjusted in a timely manner to compensate for the impact of temperature.
2、 Hardware design factors
Power converter: Choosing the appropriate power converter is crucial for improving MPPT efficiency. An efficient power converter can reduce energy loss and improve the overall efficiency of the system. For example, DC-DC converters using synchronous rectification technology can reduce conduction losses and improve conversion efficiency. At the same time, the response speed of the power converter should be fast enough to quickly track changes in the output power of the solar panel.
Sensor accuracy: MPPT technology typically relies on sensors such as voltage and current to monitor the working status of solar panels. The accuracy of the sensor directly affects the accuracy of the MPPT algorithm. High precision sensors can provide more accurate measurement data, enabling MPPT algorithms to track the maximum power point more accurately. Therefore, when designing MPPT systems, sensors with high accuracy and good stability should be selected.
